ITHACA, NY (WENY) -- The Ithaca Police Department is warning of a rising number of car thefts throughout the city.

Police say in several cases, suspects have even broken windows to get into locked vehicles. Many of the thefts have taken place in local parks and parking garages. Police are recommending that people always lock their car, and don't leave any valuables in plain sight. If possible, take your belongings with you, or store them out of view.
