D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WLOX) - During Saturday’s “Play Like a Girl Day” at the Biloxi Shuckers game, Addisyn Mollendor threw out the first pitch., She’s a two-time state champion in girls wrestling for her weight class and currently trains at Missi Wrestling Club in D’Iberville.

“We at Missi, we have three goals: we want to recruit, retain, and release women into the sport of wrestling, but we’re developing them as leaders,” explained executive coach Megan Brown.

Those leaders are created at American Top Team, where Missi Wrestling Club holds practice four times a week. Brown started the club in February with the hopes of giving girls the equipment and dedicated space to learn the sport of wrestling.
