KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Current remains undefeated in NWSL play after ending in a 0-0 draw with the reigning league champions, Orlando Pride, on Saturday night at CPKC Stadium.
The game was originally set for a 3 p.m. kickoff, but extreme heat pushed it to 6:28 p.m.
“We were ready every time they were checking that bulb to get out there. We wanted to play this game. There was no thought in our mind of not playing the game,” defender Ellie Wheeler said after the game. “Obviously, we wanted to play as soon as we could. If we could’ve done it at 3, we would’ve. But ultimately it’s just about our safety.”
