City council seats in Madison are up for election later this month.
There are seven districts in the city, but councilmembers are running unopposed in four districts - Districts 1, 2, 3, and 5. District 1’s Maura Wroblewski is the only unopposed incumbent. The current District 5 city councilmember, Ranae Bartlett, is running for mayor.
The rest of the candidates are running to help govern the city at a key time. Madison is growing at a fast pace and leaders have to handle more constituents, increased traffic and aging infrastructure.
The election is on August 26.
