A Motherwell-based roller skating club has struck gold in its first major UK competition, just two years after forming. ‌

Three of Central Scotland Artistic Roller Skating Club won gold in freestyle at the Summer Roller Cup in Great Yarmouth, qualifying them for the GB Roller Cup in September. ‌

Sophia Balluck, 13, from Hamilton, and 15-year-olds Emma Campbell from Chapelhall and Reignet Ekhaguere from Motherwell did well in the competition, and coach Heather Balluck hopes the club goes from strength to strength. ‌

She says it’s also the first time any Scottish club has competed at that level in 20 years.

Heather, head coach of the club, which is based at St Bride’s Centre, said: “We had no expectations, other than to take part and enjoy it – but it turns out we’re pretty good!
