Members of the Battle Creek Police Department’s Fusion Center, COPS Unit and Crime Lab executed a search warrant Tuesday, Aug. 12 at a residence on Elsmere Street suspected to be tied to a July 18 burglary at a local business.
Investigators were searching for approximately 3,000 pounds of refined lead bricks stolen during the burglary. During the search, officers discovered the bricks buried in the yard, according to a statement from the police department.
BCPD was assisted by the Battle Creek Department of Public Works and Semco Energy in extracting the lead from the ground. All stolen property was recovered and returned to the victim.
A 60-year-old Battle Creek man was arrested and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on charges of receiving and concealing stolen property.
