MARIETTA — Mount Bethel Christian made a powerful statement to start its first full season of varsity football.
The Eagles smashed Asheville Christian 55-0 on Friday in a game called off early in the fourth quarter due to lightning near Arrow Field.
Mount Bethel (1-0) scored on all but one completed possession.
“We had a great week and we’ve had a really good summer,” Eagles coach Micah Hughes said.
“We’ve traveled around, we’ve done 7-on-7 tournaments and we kind of put it on them in the summertime and in the weight room, and we really revamped our strength and conditioning program with coach Kaleb Ringer coming in.”
