Layers and layers of discovery. Well, maybe I should say levels and levels of discovery. This is a garden “exercise" in how to treat a landscape that is anything but flat.
With a flat driveway and an easy walk into the house, the front garden is deceiving of the levels below. My first clue was hidden in the lovely side garden. Cascading down the side was a garden bed filled with ferns, lamb's ear, irises and lily of the valley. This terrace garden was a distraction to my first hint of the levels to come, 42 steps to the first level of the back garden.
Although the steps would have been a faster route to the back, I stopped inside the house to get a bird's eye view of the entire space.
It's from here that I spied the gazebo and the rock creek bed, but there is much to see along the way.
