Just a day in, the Air Canada strike has already been a disaster for thousands of travelers. The longer the strike lasts, the more complications arise for not only Canadians but also travelers around the world, including the United States. For now, travelers can obtain a refund for most flights or choose a replacement with another carrier. However, this option has been just as stressful, and other carriers may not be able to come to the rescue due to overbooking complications.
Air Canada is getting some help. Its Star Alliance partner United Airlines has stepped up in a significant way , offering a waiver to rebook that removes added fees or fare differences.
