The weekend on Long Island should finish out Sunday with more sun and more humidity, according to the National Weather Service.

On Saturday, the thermometer in Islip topped out at 81 degrees just before 2 p.m. under a mostly sunny sky.

Temperatures will dip into the low 70s Saturday night , the weather service said.

Sunday, the high temperature is expected to be about 88 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The average high for the date in Islip is 82 degrees.

A south wind will blow Sunday at 7 to 15 mph, the weather service said.

Showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Sunday night with the chance of precipitation pegged at 40%. The low temperature should be about 68 degrees.
