Jonah Tong did Jonah Tong things in his Triple-A debut. The right-hander blanked the Red Wings for five-plus innings, allowing five hits, walking two, and striking out nine. The game was his fourth consecutive outing with at least eight strikeouts, bringing his minor league leading total to 171. Rochester starter Kyle Luckham matched him zero-for-zero, with both pitchers doing a great job limiting both baserunners and obviously runs. In the top of the sixth, Syracuse finally got to Luckham, with Jett Williams hitting a triple to start off the inning and then coming home to score on a Ryan Clifford RBI single a few batters later.
