Following last season’s disappointing finish, the Los Angeles Lakers have taken an aggressive approach this offseason with several notable roster moves. Yet, one of the biggest lingering questions surrounds forward Rui Hachimura and his long-term future in Los Angeles.

Hachimura is entering the final year of his three-year, $51 million contract. According to NBA insider Jovan Buha, the Lakers are not expected to offer him an extension before training camp as they aim to preserve financial flexibility.

“ With the current intel I have, I do not expect Rui to be extended by the Lakers in the next six weeks ,” Buha said.

Buha later elaborated that an extension later in the season isn’t entirely off the table. Yet the organization wants to assess how the roster comes together first.
