A shooting at a Brooklyn lounge early Sunday left three men dead and eight others injured. The incident occurred at the Taste of the City Lounge on Franklin Avenue around 3:30 a.m., according to the New York Police Department. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that multiple shooters were involved in the attack.
The victims included two men aged 27 and 35, while the age of the third deceased man has not yet been confirmed. The eight injured individuals, comprising both men and women, were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Commissioner Tisch reported that officers responded quickly to multiple 911 calls and found a total of 11 gunshot victims at the scene. She noted that investigators recovered approximately 36 shell casings from the lounge, indicating a significant amount of gunfire.
A firearm was also found nearby, and authorities are looking into whether it was connected to the shooting. As of Sunday morning, no suspects had been apprehended, and the investigation is ongoing.
Tisch emphasized the rarity of such incidents in the city, stating, "We have the lowest number of shooting incidents and shooting victims seven months into the year that we’ve seen on record in the city of New York. Something like this is, of course, thank God, an anomaly."
The police are currently reviewing available CCTV footage from the area to gather more information about the shooters. This tragic event has raised concerns in the community, and officials are committed to uncovering the details surrounding the shooting.
