NEW YORK — Mets starter Nolan McLean didn’t face much adversity in his MLB debut on Saturday. What little difficulty he did find himself in, he handled like a seasoned pro.

In Saturday’s 3-1 win over the Seattle Mariners , McLean’s biggest test came in the third inning.

After issuing a pair of leadoff walks, he surrendered a one-out single to load the bases.

Having worked through the first two innings with relative ease, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was eager to see how the 24-year-old handled hard times.

“Alright, let’s see what we got here,” Mendoza told his bench coach, John Gibbons, with anticipation.

The Mariners feature one of the scariest lineups in baseball, and up to bat with the bases loaded was three-time All-Star Julio Rodríguez .
