BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — Apalachee High School's football team won its first game since 2021 on Saturday night, as the school is preparing to reflect on one year since the shooting that claimed four lives.
The football team had been on a 29-game losing streak dating back to November 2021 — but they ended it Saturday in their season opener and debut for new coach Kevin Saunders , topping Chattahoochee High at home 29-9.
"I am so proud of our coaching staff, players, students, administrators and families," Coach Saunders wrote on X. "This was a very special nite for our school and community. Just glad I was there to see it."
