London’s toxic trash ‘volcano’

Arnolds Field landfill on Launders Lane in east London is better known to locals as the “Rainham volcano.” The site was used as an illegal dump for years and now, every summer, it bursts into flames, sending plumes of acrid smoke over nearby homes, parks and schools.
