Monsoon rains in Pakistan have triggered floods and landslides, killing more than 350 people in the past 48 hours, mainly in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as authorities warn of a new, "intense" phase of rainfall beginning this Sunday.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) confirmed in its latest report that the vast majority of casualties occurred in mountainous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where at least 328 people have died since Friday.

The province has become the epicenter of the disaster, with 11 districts affected, according to a provincial government spokesperson.

"The total number of people affected by the floods is 3.817," spokesman Muhammad Ali Saif said in a statement.
