The St. Vital Arena has reached two milestones this summer: The renewal of a long-standing management agreement and more than $1 million in upgrades since 2014.

The City of Winnipeg and the St. Vital Minor Hockey Association (SVMHA) confirmed a new five-year agreement beginning Aug. 1, 2025, that will keep the association in charge of day-to-day management of the city-owned facility until 2030. The arrangement began in 2005, giving the partnership a 20-year record of shared responsibility for the rink.

The extension coincides with another marker for the arena. With a new chiller scheduled to be installed in 2026 at an estimated cost of $170,000, the tally of arena improvements backed by city funding and St. Vital ward contributions now exceeds $1 million.
