LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Nelson County police have charged a Taylorsville man with murder and DUI after he crashed into a home at roughly 124 miles per hour, killing his passenger in the process.
The wreck happened Saturday, June 21. Police say Jason Wurts was driving toward Bardstown near West Stephen Avenue when he tried to make a turn, lost control of his vehicle and flew off the road.
Court documents state that Wurts drove through two yards and eventually crashed into an occupied home.
The passenger in Wurts’ car, Morgan Williamson, died from the crash.
A toxicology report shows Wurts had a blood alcohol level of .152 at the time of the crash.
Police say he was driving 124 miles per hour just seconds before the wreck. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 35 miles per hour.
