Terence Stamp, who cemented his legacy as an actor in “Superman” and “Superman II,” died at 87 on Sunday morning. Stamp’s family released the information in a statement to Reuters.
“He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come,” the family said in the statement.
Stamp played the arch-villain General Zod, leader of the Kryptonians in the 1978 and 1980 films.
The London-based actor starred in a range of films over his 60-year career. Stamp’s work includes “Theorem,” “A Season in Hell” and “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.”
He was born in London in 1938 and witnessed bombing in the city during World War Two. He left school to work in advertising before winning a scholarsh
