Some summer fun at a playground in Vernon over the weekend turned into a scary situation when a man became stuck in a slide and had to be rescued.

Emergency crews were called to Northeast Elementary School on East Street on Saturday around 4:30 p.m. after getting a report of a 40-year-old man who was stuck in a tube slide on the playground.

When crews arrived, they said they found the man wedged feet and head first down the slide and stuck in the middle portion.

Additional manpower was requested. EMS personnel provided oxygen to the man who was in extreme discomfort and ventilation was set up to help cool the space where he was stuck.

According to fire officials, crews stabilized the slide and the man was removed
