SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A man is fighting for his life after being struck by a Tesla while running into traffic in Carmel Valley on Saturday, authorities said. • Video above by FOX 5/KUSI provides driving safety tips

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened on Del Mar Heights Road at Lansdale Drive around 8:45 p.m. when an 18-year-old woman driving a Tesla Model 3 was heading westbound just after encountering a green light.

Emergency responders arrived on scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, including a skull fracture, multiple facial fractures, a collapsed lung, and acute respiratory failure. His current condition is unknown.
