Denzel Washington is making it clear that he is not worried about cancel culture.

The 70-year-old Oscar winner was asked about the concept during an interview with Complex News while promoting his new film Highest 2 Lowest with director Spike Lee .

“What does that mean — to be canceled?” Denzel asked the interviewer. After she explained that it means losing public support, he replied, “Who cares?”

“What made public support so important to begin with?” he continued.

When the journalist said that “followers now are currency,” he doubled down.

“I don’t care who’s following who. You can’t lead and follow at the same time, and you can’t follow and lead at the same time. I don’t follow anybody. I follow the heavenly spirit. I follow God, I don’t follow man. I have faith in God
