PALISADE — Long Lake Conservation Center will host Starapalooza, a free stargazing event Sept. 20 as part of the University of Minnesota’s Bell Museum sixth annual Statewide Star Party.

This year’s Star Party theme, “Aurora Voyage: Chasing the Northern Lights,” is an invitation to celebrate Minnesota’s northern skies and learn more about the phenomenon. Long Lake will join the celebration by providing activities and presentations about the northern lights, as well as other astronomical topics and then head out for an evening of stargazing, using 25- and 30-inch Dobsonian telescopes, among the largest in the state. The stargazing will be guided by Long Lake staff and members of the Minnesota Astronomical Society.
