CLEVELAND — Two people were injured Sunday morning after a boat crashed into a breakwall on Lake Erie near Edgewater Beach , according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

A social media post from the Coast Guard's Great Lakes District said rescuers responded to the Cleveland Harbor's west side breakwall around 7:23 a.m. and found two victims in critical condition along with the wrecked vessel.

Coast Guard rescuers took both people to Edgewater Marina, where EMS transported them for "higher medical care," Coast Guard said.

A spokesperson for the Cleveland Division of Fire told 3News both victims were adult men. Firefighters helped load the victims into ambulances before they were taken to a Cleveland hospital in "serious/critical condition," the spokesperson said.
