COLUMBIA, S.C. — The victim in a Sunday afternoon shooting in Columbia has died, police say.

A spokesperson said officers were called to 927 Vista Towers Drive around 1 p.m. regarding a shooting where they found a man shot. Police said the victim was initially taken to the hospital, but police announced around 8 p.m. that he had died and a relative had been arrested.

The suspect, 18-year-old Kai E. Murray, was initially detained at the scene but later arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He's now being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Police said they conducted several interviews at the crime scene and are still investigating the motive for the shooting. Based on their investigation, they believe this was an isolated incident.
