Your next purchase from Shein and Temu may soon cost more.

Last month, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that eliminated the so-called de-minimis exemption.

That’s a loophole that allowed packages worth less than $800 from China to enter the U.S. duty free. It’s set to end Aug. 29.

CONSUMER SPENDING ON THE RISE

Shoppers are still opening their wallets despite rising inflation. New numbers from the Commerce Department show consumer spending rose half a point in July.

That uptick spread across several categories, including cars and furniture.

Analysts say even though consumer sentiment fell earlier this year in part due to the Trump administration’s tariffs, there hasn’t been a major overall drop in sales.
