KENNEWICK, Wash. - Police arrested a man in the early hours on Sunday for burglary, trespassing, and obstructing a public servant after running and hiding from officers in a dumpster.
Around 4:24 a.m., police responded to an alarm at a metal scrap yard where they found the man, who then ran away through downtown, the Kennewick Police Department shared on social media.
At one point, the man dropped a backpack he was carrying full of copper piping.
Officers found him hiding in a nearby dumpster near West Kennewick Avenue and North Auburn Street, where they arrested him.
He was booked into jail "without issue," the police department said.
