Trade news around the NFL broke on Sunday, as the Houston Texans moved wide receiver John Metchie to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a Day 3 pick swap and tight end Harrison Bryant.

Metchie, a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, hadn’t seen much playing time through the first three years of his career, dealing with a variety of injuries.

He had caught 24 passes for 254 yards last season, but the Texans added wide receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft, leaving uncertainty regarding Metchie’s role this year.

Interestingly, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that the 49ers were one of the teams interested in Metchie before the Texans traded him to the Eagles on Sunday, but Philadelphia made a better offer.
