CHARLOTTE — The Panthers are adding a quarterback for the final week of the preseason.

The team plans to sign former UFL MVP Bryce Perkins this week, according to multiple reports.

Perkins, 28, has spent time with the Rams during the 2020 through 2022 seasons, appearing in five games with one start.

Backup quarterback Andy Dalton left Saturday's preseason game after just one series because of a right elbow injury , leaving Jack Plummer to finish the rest of the game.

With starters not expected to play Thursday against the Steelers, the Panthers needed another passer.

They haven't made a corresponding move yet.
