CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) — The man killed after a train hit his car in Champaign County in late July has been identified.

It happened on July 27 on Leverett Road in Somer Township.

Champaign County Police said a driver, now identified as 33-year-old Kyle Clevenger, tried going around the crossing gates and was hit by an Amtrak train.

Police are still investigating the death.
