Police are asking for help to identify the body of a man found in a river.

Suffolk Police said that a body was recovered from the River Deben in Suffolk.

Officers were contacted at 7.45am on 17 August by the Coastguard, who brought the body of an adult male ashore at Waldringfield at 8.45am.

Death was confirmed officially by ambulance service staff.

Police are trying to establish the man’s identity. He is described as white and around 35, with fair hair and a beard. He was wearing black shorts when his body was found in the river.

The cause of death is unknown but at this stage is not believed to be suspicious.

The man’s body was taken to the mortuary at Ipswich Hospital.
