BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — One person was killed and another injured after a 2021 Dodge Durango fell off an elevated portion of the interstate on Saturday, Aug. 16.
The Baton Rouge Police Department said the single-vehicle crash happened on I-10 West close to the Louise Street exit around 2:30 a.m.
The crash took the life of Cody Pounds, 34 who was a passenger in the front seat at the time of the incident.
BRPD said the driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition.
Police confirmed the driver hit a concrete curb and crash attenuators before the vehicle went off the interstate and ended up on the ground below.
The investigation into this deadly crash is ongoing.
