Cavalli, who turned 27 on Thursday, pitched 7 shutout innings against the Philadelphia Phillies for his 1st career big league win. This was just his 4th career start since making his MLB debut three years ago.

Cavalli pitched 7 shutout innings in the Washington Nationals 2-0 win over the Phillies. Cavalli gave up 7 hits without a walk, and struck out five on 90 pitches.

Cavalli is only his the fourth starter to throw seven scoreless innings versus Philadelphia this season, joining Andre Pallante, Framber Valdez and Hunter Brown.
