The Detroit Tigers capped a strong road trip with a dud.

Chris Paddack was shelled for six runs in the third inning, including a grand slam, as the Minnesota Twins avoided a four-game sweep with an 8-1 win Sunday afternoon at Target Field.

The Tigers (73-53) still took three of four from the Twins (58-66) and went 5-2 on their seven-game trip, but they head home on a sour note.

Paddack, facing his former team for the second time since being traded to Detroit three weeks ago, struggled again. He allowed a solo homer to Royce Lewis in the second, then another to Byron Buxton to lead off the third. Nine batters came to the plate in the inning, which was punctuated by Brooks Lee’s two-out grand slam.
