BOSTON — Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman was unavailable Sunday after he pitched on back-to-back days. Manager Alex Cora instead used Greg Weissert.

Weissert, tasked with protecting a one-run lead, allowed a game-tying home run to Marlins’ Dane Myers on the second pitch he threw. The 30-year-old righty ultimately gave up two runs in the ninth, taking the loss as Miami won 5-3 at Fenway Park .

“It sucks to be the person who’s responsible for it,” Weissert said. “Garrett (Crochet) goes out there every game and it’s always a chance to win. And to not be able to pick up Chappy being down and Garrett pitching a great game , it sucks.”

Boston had entered 57-1 when leading after eight innings.
