All eastbound lanes on the Trans-Canada Highway near Chilliwack were closed Sunday afternoon after a crash.

Drive B.C. said a vehicle incident between Exit 120 (Young Road) and 123 (Prest Road) resulted in the closure of Highway 1, with traffic being diverted at Vedder Road.

On highway cameras in the area, traffic could be seen backing up shortly after 2 p.m.

The nature of the collision and whether there were injuries aren’t known.

Drivers should watch for traffic control in the area and, if possible, take an alternate route along Highway 11 to Highway 7.

In an update just before 3 p.m., Drive B.C. said there won’t be another update on the traffic situation until about 8 p.m. PDT.
