SPOKANE, Wash. – The Special Olympics Organization of Washington partnered with local law enforcement and Spokane County Fire District 9 for a day of fundraising in North Spokane.

The event was part of the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Fund campaign.

Fire District 9’s commitment to the community shone brightly during the event.

“It’s awesome. I mean, this is what it’s all about for us,” a firefighter said.

“It’s about taking care of our community whether it be supporting Special Olympics, responding to incidents, being there in our community day in and day out.”

The fundraiser took place in the Fred Meyer parking lot, benefiting local Special Olympics teams, including the Spokane Pacers.
