ATLANTA — The U.S. Postal Service this weekend unveiled a soon-to-be-available stamp that honors the late President Jimmy Carter.
President Carter died last December at the age of 100. The release of the Jimmy Carter Forever Stamp will coincide with what would have been his 101st birthday on Oct. 1.
According to USPS, the stamp design is a piece of 1982 oil-on-linen painting that was "created as a life study by artist Herbert E. Abrams in preparation for painting his official White House portrait."
The Postal Service notes that a Forever Stamp always retains its value to whatever the current First Class Mail 1-ounce price is.
