Sheldon Museum of Art debuts new exhibit curated by community members

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - You known the chant that is scheduled at every Husker sporting event: Go Big Red.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln art museum took and created an exhibited curated by members of the university and citywide community.

At the Sheldon Museum of Art, they wanted to to the idea of “Go Big Red” and create an exhibit showcasing art that features red in it. But they didn’t curate it themselves, they invited staff, students and community members with connections to Nebraska to select one piece from the Museum Collection that had red featured in it.

“It was really an invitation to community members to be an important, integral part of creating this exhibition, working together, building a sense of community,” said Erin Hanas, Sheldon Museum of Art.
