Metropolis follows Marion, Herrin in banning synthetic Kratom products

Before attending a Southern Illinois Mayors Association meeting a few weeks ago in Marion, Metropolis Mayor Gregg Jeffords had never heard of Kratom.

Both Marion and Herrin voted to ban the sale of Kratom products May 12 after Emily Pieroni testified to Marion City Council that her husband died, at just 41 years old, from using the legal herbal drug in March.
