CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina — A Cleveland couple, both employees of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, were killed in a crash Friday in North Carolina, according to reports.

Donald Nunney, 55, and his wife, Maria Nunney, 50, were driving to visit family friends when the crash occurred, WRAL Channel 5 report s. Two of the couple’s children, a 14-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy, were injured in the crash.

The North Carolina State Patrol tells WNCN Channel 17 the crash occurred on Interstate 85/Interstate 40 just before 1:20 p.m. The patrol says the 2018 Honda Odyssey, driven by Donald Nunney, went off the right side of the road, hit several trees, went down an embankment and then hit a large tree.
