AMHERST, NY — The Town of Amherst continued a long-standing tradition Sunday afternoon, honoring dozens of local veterans during its 14th Annual Memorial Wall Dedication Ceremony.

Held at Amherst State Park, the event drew nearly 300 people as 47 new names were etched into the town’s Memorial Wall. Those names now join the 393 others already honored on the wall, which was created in 2009 by the Town of Amherst and the Amherst Veterans Committee as a permanent site to pay tribute to service members connected to Amherst.

The wall recognizes veterans from every branch of the military — including the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard.
