ALEXANDRIA — 2024 ended as perfectly as possible for the Alexandria volleyball team.
Seeded No. 5 in the MSHSL Class 3A State Tournament, Alexandria toppled Mahtomedi, Delano, and Marshall to win the program’s second state title ever.
Coming off that state title win, Alexandria has a solid foundation but is going to encounter big challenges in 2025, including a move up to Class 4A.
“We have a lot of momentum coming off of last season’s state tournament, and I’m super excited,” Alexandria head coach Mary Byrne said. “With the younger players, we’re seeing that’s been a driving force, and they’re competing well in practice. It's been refreshing to see the culture in the gym, right from the start, competitiveness, and them just going after everything."
