Christopher Newport University football opened training camp this week as the Captains prepare for their season opener at home against Trine.
Coming off a 7-3 overall record and a 5-1 finish in conference play last season, the Captains are looking to build on last year’s success. Despite a strong performance, they narrowly missed out on a conference title and playoff berth.
With around 90 players returning, head coach Paul Crowley and his team are focused on setting the tone early — both during camp and in their Week 1 matchup. While a playoff return remains a long-term goal, the immediate priority is starting the season strong and establishing momentum.
