COLUMBIA — The National Federation of the Blind of Missouri is facing a decline in donations and volunteer support this year. This is raising concerns about how the nonprofit will continue to meet the needs and programs of people in Missouri with low vision and blindness.

Gary Wunder, former president of the Missouri National Federation of the Blind but now president of Columbia's chapter, is a longtime advocate for the blind community. He said the organization is feeling the pressure as economic uncertainty impacts donations.

"I think whenever people are unsure about their own incomes, they're a little less willing to give it away," Wunder said.
