HILLSBORO, Ore. — Timely hits were hard to come by for the Everett AquaSox on Friday.

Four hits, three walks and two batters being hit by pitches gave the Frogs nine baserunners, but Everett (17-29 second half, 54-58 overall) struck out 14 times in a 3-1 loss to the Hillboro Hops (17-29, 50-62) Friday at Hillsboro Ballpark.

Nico Tellache’s strong start gave the AquaSox a chance, but Hillsboro Gonzalez escaped the ninth inning with his seventh save of the season.

Gonzalez opened the final inning by hitting Charlie Pagliarini (1-for-2, walk, run) with a pitch. Milkar Perez drove in Pagliarini with a two-out single, but Carson Jones grounded out to end Everett’s last gasp.

Hops starter Daniel Eagen (7-5) dominated during seven innings of work, striking out 11 Frogs while allowing two hits
