Red Sox sign 1B who has won a Silver Slugger and a Gold Glove
The Boston Red Sox may finally have found a solution at first base.
It certainly took long enough.
On Sunday night, though, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that Nathaniel Lowe and the Red Sox are heading toward agreement on a deal.
Lowe was designated for assignment by the Washington Nationals earlier this week. He hit a grand slam in his last game with the Nats.
Washington added Lowe from the Rangers this offseason, and he admittedly hasn't lived up to his career numbers. His .216 batting average is 47 points below his career number.
Still, Lowe has hit 17 doubles, 16 homers and driven in 68 runs while walking at a decent rate.
He's 30 years old and has previously won a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugg
