The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a missing person case on Cayuga Lake near the 7000 block of County Road 153 in the Town of Ovid, New York.

According to officials, early Sunday morning someone reported hearing yelling from the lake. One individual was rescued by nearby citizens who responded to the call for help. That person was not injured.

A search is ongoing for a second person believed to be involved. Multiple law enforcement agencies and fire departments are currently searching the area by boat.

Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area and stay clear of all police and fire vessels on the water. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
