SPOKANE, Wash. – Six months after losing her son, a Spokane mother found a way to channel her grief into a positive cause.

Renee Rogers lost her 13-year-old son, Gavin Looper, who was shot and killed earlier this year.

Gavin was in the 8th grade and known for his kind soul and love for everyone.

This weekend, Renee honored Gavin’s memory by giving back to the community.

She took a young girl named Ava on a back-to-school shopping spree to ensure she had clothes, shoes, and supplies for the new school year.

Ava is set to attend the same school Gavin once did.

Renee shared the joyful experience on Facebook, noting, “all of her smiles and excitement were absolutely priceless.”
